Proclaim Academy
was started as a tutorial service in 2002,
while the founder was a teacher in a public
school system. In January 2004 Proclaim
Christian Academy (PCA) opened as a private
school for Kindergarten to 5th. Proclaim
Academy was accredited fully in 2008 by the
Georgia Accrediting Commission for
grades K- 8th .
PCA uses
the A Beka Christian curriculum as the core
curriculum, with supplements from several
textbooks publishers, including Bob Jones,
McGraw Hill, Harcourt Brace and Houghton
Mifflin. The reading program is built
on a foundation of phonetic awareness.
The Stanford national standardized
tests are administered in the spring.
Entering students are assessed formally and
informally to determine the appropriate
level in the academic program.
Students wear uniforms daily and adhere to
standards of positive behavior, etiquette,
and high expectations.
The learning environment is student
centered, inter–active and exploratory. The
small personalized setting allows student to
move at his or her own pace for acceleration
or remediation.
Students study Native American and African
American history and culture in addition to
conventional history. The students research,
write reports, present orally and share
facts in Science and Social Studies. Science
is taught experientially through gardening,
field trips and interaction with nature.
